I haven't managed to get an MP3 going on my headset either but using the
gsmheadset.state I could make a call (not from the GUI, but still) I got
enormous feedback (annoying tone) when using the hadset profile but I
read a bugreport on that (Can't remember which right now) and there was
an easy fix.

Same here. I can make a call but no audio, and as soon as I click
accept on an incoming call, it crashes. I can hear audio by steaming
radio:
wget -O - http://radioparadise.steadyhost.com:8050 | madplay -
but I can't hear anything on a call. I tried all the .state files but
only /etc/alsa/stereoout.state works at all, and that has audio on the
headset and speaker at the same time.
I am using an 3 year old ATT SIM.
The display is awesome.

I have had the same experience with making calls. It seems to have
much more problems with incoming calls than outgoing calls.
Also was dually impressed with the screen quality, it is stunning!

Eh, I sent this to just Walter first. Isn't Reply-To supposed to go to
the list?
I had the same experience as Walter with my Neo. I can sometimes make
calls, but usually one of the components crashes. So far I haven't
heard anyhting out of the Neo's microphone, but I think I was using the
wrong alsa state file.
I'm using a build I did on 7/29. My SIM is my usual US T-Mobile one.
At least there are things to work on. :)

Dear All,
I'm the proud owner of a neo advanced kit and the first thing that
struck me is clear the LCD is! WOW! I didn't realize it would be
THAT good.
Anyway, I read on the lists of all the success-stories of people
using their phone to make phone-calls. I didn't expect to be able
to make phone calls so I was pleasantly surprised.
I have eventually made a successful phone-call too, but with a lot
of trouble. gsmd and/or the modem and/or the openmoko-dialer kept
crashing on me. Using alsactl (to set the profile to headset) and
libgsmd -m shell I was finally able to make a phone call but after
one call I had to restart gsmd and sometimes even the phone.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect to be able to make phone-calls
_at all_ so I'm pleasantly surprised. But I was wondering what the
experiences of other owners is in this area.
I used a Dutch T-mobile card and a Dutch Telfort prepay-card with
the same level of success.
Accepting a call from the GUI always resulted in openmoko-dialer
crashing...
Did I interpret the enthusiasm of other users too positive or
should I investigate more as to why it keeps crashing on my neo?
I used images compiled on 28,30&31 July for testing.
Hope to hear your experiences!
Greetings
