I got the same thing once, I think I was able to fix it by running
"/etc/init.d/xserver-nodm restart" through the SSH connection
KDM which comes with KDE has the option to auto-restart X if it
fails. Something similar for this device would be useful, what use is
SSH in the middle of a street? :)
