I have a SDHC card installed, and the latest mentioned u-boot seem to
support SDHC, but I suppose regular SD cards, eg. the 512MB card
delivered with the Neo will work as well.
0.Ensure that the flash-card is formatted with the file system format ext3.
1.You should be able to do that with a card reader connected to your
Linux based computer.
2.Insert the flash card into your Neo and boot it up with a recent image
that has been installed to the phone, not the flash card that you are
about to update.
3.Get the flash image file that you want to flash your Neo with, to your
Linux computer.
4.Connect your Neo to your computer with a USB cable.
5.Establish the connection with this: ifconfig usb0 192.168.0.200
netmask 255.255.255.0
6.If #5. doesn't work, it may be because your Linux kernel doesn't have
the necessary USB support.
7.In case you are using the (as of today) the most recent release,
execute the following command: cat
OpenMoko-openmoko-devel-image-glibc-ipk-P1-Snapshot-20080123-fic-gta01.rootfs.tar.gz
| ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] tar -C /media/card -xz
8.Remeber that if you get an error about SSH not knowing your host, just
execute (as root): # rm /root/.ssh/known_hosts
and redo the command.
9.It may take from 5-10minutes to unpack the image onto your flash card,
and if you have added the tar flag 'v' then it will definitely take longer.
10 If your image is not gzipped, but just a regular tar-image then you
should omit the 'z' flag.
11.Then, when attempting to reboot to this image, you must select SD or
SDHC card to reboot when starting up the Neo, using the AUX key and the
power-key.
If it doesn't work, ask again, and everyone please remember: there are
no dumb questions, just dumb answers!

I was able to make voice calls and messaging work on my GTA01, and
this
is great progress seen from a user's perspective!
The Message UI is rather puzzling, though, I was able to use it.
If it is now possible to make the GTA01 handle battery power in a
decent
way, i might actually become a really useful device, also for regular
usage. I don't usually want to carry more than one mobile device with
me, so my Neo still sits on my desk at home.
Decent battery power handling would be:
1.Needing charge less than once each day, even when on 24/7.
2.Being able to keep charging and not loosing/disconnecting charging
while plugged in, see:

I know that battery handling has improved on the GTA02, but I hope
that
also the GTA01 will eventually be usable for common everyday use :-)
