Dear all, Now that it's officially confirmed, I can also share it here.
The DeviceMap talk I proposed for ApacheCon Europe was accepted[?] Most of the slides are pretty well in shape in their German version. I'll translate them and make format or template adjustments (i.E. if Apache or ApacheCon has a particular template, or we wish to use a certain CI for DeviceMap) Of course ongoing activities in pretty much all parts of the project will have an influence on the final slides. As I am an Individual committer (technically everyone is, but e.g. Bertrand is likely sent by his company and they pay his ticket, etc. I lose money for every conference day or week as customers care about delivery, not so much public appearances[?]) I asked for support with the conference pass and travel ticket if they can (hotels in Hungary are not extremely expensive, so that I could handle) and hope, some of it may be granted. I pointed out a German DeviceMap talk in Hamburg on the 18th of the same week and hope, they accept it. Bertrand said he expects to be there, but being "mentor" rather than actual committer he would not be too comfortable speaking about it on his own (in the unlikely event they insisted doing it on the 18th, or evening of the 17th, too) As I understand, Reza is based on US East coast and Eberhard in Asia (Malaysia?, so we clearly wouldn't want you having to fly over Eastern Europe again after what just happened[?]) How about Radu, is he in Romania (which is just next to Hungary) or just from Romania and based elsewhere? It is a great opportunity for DeviceMap to be visible and accepting the talk also is a sign, that the project could have a good chance of graduation between now and the conference. Unless it's exactly on the same day, I'd be quite certain to hold all or part of the talk myself, but if other committers are there or very close to Budapest, they'd be welcome to join in.
