And you? I believe Neil is right here, and this kind of shortcut can
not be taken.

There's UART, long rs/232 cable, and a GPS.
UART needs some kind of power supply, to present voltages on the
rs/232 cable.
GPS needs some kind of power supply to work.
They are different power supplies, and we should have way to tell them
apart.
