What kind of network cards?
Was this hardware tested with any other OS before e-smith?
Are there any errors in /var/log/messages?
Have your installers setup a sniffer on the network to watch the traffic?
What happens if you just connect the server to the cable modem and not run
any internal services? Just setup a ping test from the other remote to test
connectivity across the Internet for a while. If this works I would try
replacing the internal Nic on the e-smith server. What happens if they try
reversing the Nics through the settings?
I would recommend trying to eliminate some possibilities until it is a
workable situation. Right now your kind of chasing your tail, or your tail
is chasing you. Nobody knows yet :)
