I am having this exact same issue. I can ping the internet using IP addresses, but
not with www.example.com. Looking at the e-smith manager screen shows the e-smith
server being a dns server. So, I am assuming that the e-smith server is querying
itself. Where can I put in a different dns server? (in the /etc/templates... area)
If so, would be nice to be able to include this on either the admin config screen or
the e-smith-manager. Also, what about DNS forwarders, where can these be added.
(ditto from above)
Thanks,
JB

I am having a problem with e-smith 4.1 b2. I have the server setup in
server-gateway mode. One nic is in my local 10.x.x.x network and the
external nic is
in a 172.16.x.x network that has an ip that is NAT'd out to the internet as
208.x.x.x
Now I am able to ping the box from the internet(but not brows to it), but
when I run the "Test internet connection" it fails. I think that this is
because it does not know what my dns servers are. is this correct or am I
missing something else like being a NAT'd address ? and what should I do to
fix this ? should i be running in server only mode since i am not trying to
protect my network ?
