I have picked up a fairly obscure problem with samba shares :
>From a PC, if you try and create a folder called coup� using the extended
character alt-0233, it creates it, but cannot be accessed again from the PC
on
the e-smith server. It is listed but you get a message that the folder does
not exist when accessing it.
When trying to delete this folder Windows reports a filesystem error 1026
I believe that it has to do with the 'VALID CHARS = ' parameter in Samba,
and if this is the case should these common characters not be added to
the e-smith server ?
This can be cause for trouble on a network as a customer could potentially
create such a folder, but not delete it, requiring a service call to
delete it from the console.
Another problem could be copying a server share to a local PC drive, it
aborts with the 'filesystem error 1026' and nothing gets copied even though
only one folder may have the extended character in it.
