I have a solution, but it isn't what I want.
It works with me to logon to the e-smith server's ftp with using my own
account name. I've tried it with an other e-smith server (nice to have two
on two deferent sites).
If you set ftp user access to public, you can logon with your user name, and
use the server as normal, including your own home directory.
But what I want is to give costumers access to a I-bay secured with a
password, enabling them to upload to the I-bay. Download is no problem
(expectably not with a ftp program like CuteFTP), (With I-explore it give
some problem) but upload is.
So, maybe it is a bug, or it is not possible.
The only thing I do not understand is that it works with a user logging on,
but not when logging on to the I-bay.
I hope somebody can Explain it to me...

I just received a call from a client. Regarding this same problem. I also
asked the question and received no response. I have tried every possible
combination with e-smith manager and still am not able to ftp to a e-smith
virtual domain. Any thing involving a write, including creating a new folder
is refused. With a message that says something to the effect of "550
xxx.xxxx.xxx permission denied"
I really need a solution this problem.

I've a simple question according to FTP use.
I've an I-bay that I share to internet acces, with 'write=group' and
'read=group'.
This FTP site is used to work with from everywhere on the internet.
According to the manual I must log on as user 'i-bay name' and password
'i-bay password'
When I do this my FTP program (CuteFTP) logs in and reply's:
220 e-smith.webdesign.dnsalias.com FTP server ready.
331 Password required for telewerken.
230 Anonymous access granted, restrictions apply.
This is not what I want, I now can read from the FTP, but not write to it,
because of the restrictions. Weeks ago it is discussed too, but I can't find
the item explaning it.
When I log on with my own name, and password, I have full access to the
server:
All the I-bays,
the manager directory,
the primary directory
the user directory's (only have permission for my own)
I can work with it this way, but just wanne to know if it is possible to let
somebody log on to an I-bay who is not a user of the server. That person
must have permission to write to the I-bay because of information exchange.
