The pseudonyms in 4.1 provide this. You can "alias" a name to any
existing user or group. So you can have a pseudonym of "webmaster" to
the existing user "darrel" or group "sysadmin" or whatever.

Ouch, the web panel for this is missing from 4.1beta2 :-(

Hmm, that makes it hard to comment on....we'll put out an update with

I gave a few reasons why that particular module is not included. I
believe that the support in 4.1 (with the missing web panel :-( ) will
provide exactly what you need without having to enter comma separated
lists of users in aliases.

Naturally. We didn't want to force anyone to use any particular backup
mechanism but would provide a reasonable default if people want to use
it.
