Stephen, we have identified a race condition in startup that can cause the
manager startup to fail on systems which use DHCP to obtain the IP address
for the external interface. I have built a new RPM that fixes that
problem, plus three others:
- An error in generating /etc/securetty, on upgrades of 4.0.1 or earlier
(if you have upgraded an earlier version, and have public telnet access
enabled, it is important that you apply this update, then update the
remote access settings - we recommend that you disable public telnet at
this time).
- An upgrade of a system using PHP for the index file of the primary web
site created a pro-forma index.html file, thereby hiding the index.php3
file.
- The 'swapped' value of EthernetAssign was not being automatically
removed when it was appropriate to do so, for instance, after some
elaborately choreographed ethernet card swapping by Michael Weinberger
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. Thanks for the testing and excellent bug report.
The new RPM e-smith-base-4.2.0-16.noarch.rpm will be uploaded to
ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/dev/e-smith-4.1rc2/updates/RPMS within
the next hour.
