I would need to check (and I don't have time to in the foreseeable
future), but I think even in continuous mode, diald still needs a trigger
event to bring the link up. It will then keep the link up. Read the Fine
Manual, as they say.
Diald logs trigger packets, so it is possible to see the outgoing packet
which has triggered a dialup.
