Yes and Yes. It has to be reliable as it hosts a lot of client DNS details.
The DNS server itself is heavily locked down at the port level and BIND is
also set to not allow recursive lookups. And I do tend to keep a somewhat
opened ear to bind security threats - every 3 months or so... :)
