I was working with installing Gallery last night, and for best
functioning, it needs to use an .htaccess file, which of course is
disabled by default in e-smith. I can always make changes directly to
httpd.conf, but that's disfavored as they'll be overwritten the next
time it's regenerated. I could make hardcoded changes to the templates,
but that's not too pretty, either. I was thinking it might be a good
idea to have an "advanced settings" screen for ibays.

I was envisioning a page that would have checkboxes to allow advanced
settings for apache, ftp, and samba, and a (multi-line) text box to
enter those settings. Maybe no checkboxes, and just add the directives
if they're there. Probably with a conspicuous warning to "only use this
if you know what you're doing".

Admittedly, this wouldn't present the most intuitive interface to the
user, but it'd provide a much cleaner way to change settings (PHP
values, for example) on a per-ibay basis than we have now. What do you
think about this?
