To restart most other e-smith services, which run from SysV init startup
scripts, use:
/etc/rc7.d/Sxxblah restart
Do not use "service"; it may work most of the time, but doesn't use the
e-smith configuration database, and will therefore do some unqanted things
from time to time.

I don't know what the official status is but this was the post I was
thinking of.
