should be no need. If powstatd -t is showing OK when power is connected, FAIL
when power is removed and LOW when the battery is about to run out then
powstatd will respond to those states correctly.

Yes, if you've got everything working under powstatd -t so that you get the
above messages in the correct state then the actual daemon will do the right
thing. ie you remove power and (up to 15 seconds later) you get a screen
message announcing powerfailure and a shutdown in a few minutes. Plug the
power back in and it will cancel the shutdown (unless you left it too long).

It should shutdown in 5 minutes whether or not the battery runs down in that
time. It does this to preserve battery power (it's adjustable though).
All I can say is re-read the man pages which are definitive if you are stuck.
