Hello,
I recently installed E-Smith on my computer (right, who said "Big
deal"!) for testing purposes, at the time I was dual booting Windows and
Linux (Mandrake 7.1). As the other computer I had access to was too slow to
run E-Smith I had no choice but to disconnect the existing hard drive and
plug a spare 1.7GB drive in.
After a few times of disconnecting the one hard drive then connecting
the other and telling the BIOS I realised that there had to be a better way.
So to cut a long story short I managed to get Windows, Linux and E-smith to
all boot from a single hard drive
This is quite an achievement for me as all though I'm not new to
computers I have to admit that I'm not that experienced when it comes to
Linux. Especially E-Smith.
I realise that most people on this group could also do this if they
wanted but most new users wont be able to. And for people who just want to
test, or even get to know E-Smith better, then I can't think of a better way
(other than a separate computer) to do this.
Certainly this has been the best way for me to get to test thing out on
E-Smith and to get to know it with out fear of losing or damaging anything
that might be important.
My question: Is there any need for me to do a HOWTO on how to set up
E-Smith to dual boot with other OS's. If there is then will do this as my
contribution to the developers community and as a thanks to E-Smith/Mitel
for such a fantastic product.
I apologise in advance if some one has already done this, and if so
could you point me in the direction so that I can see it.
Lastly, like most people I am shocked at what has happened in New York
and I would like to wish those who are affected the very best for the
future.
Thanks
Craig
P.S. Don't be surprised if I don't reply to any replies within the next
week.
