1. The Samba 2.2.1a update is *THIRD PARTY* It is not an official Blade...
yet...

2. Windows XP Home & Pro OEM does not have a problem with Samba 2.2.1a on
the five machines I've set up. The only difference between Windows 2000
and Windows XP *seems* to be the reliance on Certificate or Strong
Encryption on the password - Obviously an Active Directory thing :-) The
network I have here, runs 2000 Pro without adjustment, and the XP runs
fine once the reg entry below is modified.

3. The error message doesn't talk about wrong passwords, suggesting a more
generic problem. Does the machine pick a correct IP address from DHCP if
you log in as "Administrator",<admin password>,<Local Machine Name>? Are
you running a local or remote profile?

If this doesn't get you on track, e-mail either me, or if you've paid for
them, the service from Mitel... This is a development list, and is an
unsupported situation at the moment.

Craig Foster

Subject: [e-smith-devinfo] Windows XP - PDC - Samba
Hi Folks,

I know this is a development list.
But if you want to release the samba blade it must somehow work with
Windows
XP Nop ?
So people told me they succeed to make it work.. actually I dont !
I followed Dan Brown's howto .. the one which tells you you have to add 2
lines in smb.conf templates.
add user script = /sbin/e-smith/db accounts set %u machine ; \
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/machine-account-create create-machine account
%u

It was working very fine with windows 2k exept the problem when logging
off.
Anyways.. It's not working anymore with XP.
I got logged on my domain .. I had the great "Welcome to....."
And when I try to get connected at windows startup it tells me :

Logon Message
-------------
Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller
is
down or otherwise unavailable, ......

What should I do since it's working with 2k and that the domain reconized
my
computer.
