That looks neat, but if I understand it, the code there is to
actually replace the flash programming in an access point
with a Linux based open source version.  I'd guess that people
using SMEserver with wireless are more interested in running
cards in a PC in ad-hoc mode for a small subnet since if you
have an access point you don't need to do anything special on
the router side.  I haven't tried a wireless card with a 2.2.x
kernel but Mandrake 8.1 automatically detects and uses an SMC
card when I swap it with the usual wired Xircom on my Toshiba
laptop.
