If you go to:

ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/contrib/CharlieBrady/mgetty+sendfax/RPMS

you will find this collection of RPMs:

e-smith-mgetty-sendfax-0.0.1-07.noarch.rpm
ghostscript-6.51-16es2.i386.rpm
ghostscript-fonts-5.50-3.noarch.rpm
libtiff-3.5.5-10.i386.rpm
mgetty-1.1.25-2.i386.rpm
mgetty-sendfax-1.1.25-2.i386.rpm
modemtest-1.0-1.i386.rpm
netpbm-9.9-5.i386.rpm
netpbm-progs-9.9-5.i386.rpm
supervise-scripts-3.3-1es1.noarch.rpm

Installing these RPMs on a 5.1.2 server will give you outgoing fax
capability. This bundle should provide a good basis on which developers
can build mail2fax and print2fax gateways. Note also that the cut-down
ghostscript (no X11 dependencies) included here may also be useful as a
PostScript to PDF converter.

Configuration instructions are included in the blurb included
in the e-smith-mgetty-sendfax RPM:

$ rpm -qivp e-smith-mgetty-sendfax-0.0.1-07.noarch.rpm

Summary : Package to configure mgetty+sendfax on an SME server
Description :
Package to configure mgetty+sendfax on an SME server.

Configuration properties of the mgetty service are:

- status - enabled/disabled
- FaxModemDevice - ttyS0, ttyS1, etc. Defaults to "modem".
- FaxSendNumber - a telephone number
- FaxId (this looks to be a duplicate) - a telephone number
(FaxId is now optional, and FaxSendNumber is used instead if FaxId
   is not available)
- AutoPPPLogin - yes/no (but yes is not fully implemented at present)

The service is configured in a "down" state.

In order to start the faxrunq daemon service, as root, do:

svc-start faxrunqd

You'll first want to configure the mgetty service:

/etc/e-smith/events/actions/conf-mgetty-startup
/sbin/e-smith/db configuration setprop FaxModemDevice ttyS0
/sbin/e-smith/db configuration setprop FaxSendNumber 12345678
/sbine/e-smith/events/actions/conf-mgetty

Now you should be able to send a fax using:

  faxspool nnnnnn file

Here "file" is a PostScript, ASCII or G3 encoded file (with filename *.ps,
*.txt or *.g3, respectively). When the fax is successfully sent, an e-mail
message will be sent to the user who executed "faxspool".

Enjoy
