This is an easy one :) edit the hostnames and address and change the
address for "mail.whateverhost.com". Then add a templates-custom entry in
/etc/hosts and create an entry for mail.whateverhost.com. The e-smith
manager takes care of the MX entries, and the server is the only thing that
will care about and obey the hosts file. I had this very same problem at
www.norame.com

Subject: [e-smith-devinfo] I need to disable email for a virtual domain

We are going to be hosting one of our clients web sites for several
months - maybe even longer until they get a provider
with higher bacndwidth.
since we have setup a virtual domain on our e-smith to do that the
problem has come up that we can't send them email because
our e-smith now thinks it should recieve those emails and then it
bounces them because it doesn't have a matching user.

what is the recommended way to make this type of setup work? the dns
for thier domain is currently setup at mydomain.com
to dump all thier email to a pop account at thier isp where thier
e-smith collects it from.
and the web site is pointed at the virtual domain on our web server.
