I took a look at quite a few network monitoring pacakges. Netsaint, Demarc,
Big Brother, Big Sister. I did not like the complexity of the packages. I
then came across nnmap and npulse from http://www.horsburgh.com/

Combined they become a very slick and simple network monitoring tool that
will automatically monitor any TCP/IP network device. In addition it does
not require any agent loaded on the monitored server and will e-mail the
admin if any error occurs.

Visit this link if you wish to take a look for yourself:

I've left it classed as beta simply because I have not had any time to truly
test it. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Regards,
