Hi Folks Thought I might add my 2 cents worth here.... I have had alot of experience with these groupware products. Here is a list of products I have tested and a quick run down on features. I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that these are all opensource projects so you have the freedom test all of them and choose the product that best suitee you:
Note. What I refer to as basic features are webmail, shared-calendar, contacts, notes and todos Twiggi - run Twiggi for over a year, all the basic features of groupware, I feel it needs more work on the scheduler and group functions moregroupware (www.moregroupware.org) - all basics features, nice easy interface, only problem is that the webmail is for pop not imap! Also has projects management tools phprojekt (www.phprojekt.org) - all basics, definately designed for enterprise use, light and quick interface, excellent group and users control, modular design, extra features like chat, forum, Tutos (www.tutos.org) - basics, design project management, enterprise products, has teams, departments, managers, assign request to to team members, calendar has a cute meeting voting feature. Found the installation a little fuzzy the first time around. phpgroupware (www.phpgroupware.org) - very popular product, all basic features, has many add-ons for it's modular design, initial releases were buggy but they seem to have ironed out alot of the bugs, features like forums, weather, news, squirrelmail....etc, etc pbcs(project based calendar system) (can't remember url, check on freshmeat) - not really a groupware product but a really cute and easy shared calendar system for a small office. Has a nice appointment conflict feature All of these run on SME all are php/mysql apps. Amphora light - excellent product (it's the free version of it's big-brother) - haven't got it to run on SME, the current version only runs on RH 6.2? Has all the basics, but it has a MS outlook sync clients - it syncs your calendar, tasks and contact with amphora! Requires postgres and mysql I should write a howto and rpm to install these apps but they all pretty much have the same procedure as any other php/mysql app. I you need pointer gimme a shout or have a look at Dan Brown's phpbbs2 install That's it Devlyn Davis wrote: > For me, Twiggi has been the best web-groupware I've seen so far.
