I think it's cleaner to reinstall from the reinstallation floppy and 
original CD and then restore user data from the CDs. The reinstall
floppy includes all of the configuration information to allow a 
restore to proceed.

Anyway, have a look at e-smith-cdbackup in my contrib area. It might 
be of interest. It doesn't do multi-CD backups, but if your changed data
during a day will fit on a CD (it probably will), it can be useful.
