> No offense Greg, I think you are right on with your feature analysis.
None taken Jeff. I think this really is an apples and oranges discussion. On one hand are the folks like yourself who are experienced *nix users wanting to implement a GPL solution on your SME box. You guys want to see an implementation that is open, highly configurable, and "free." That's great and I'm all or the GNU community. On the other hand you have your average user who has only worked with either a windows GUI or a mac GUI. *nix is completely foreign to them. Even the "user friendly" solutions such as Mandrake are very difficult for these folks to grasp and use. These folks may be very knowledgeable in their respective areas of expertise, but are not developers or sys admin types. They are not used to having the open interface us *nix folks like and in fact are confused by it. What they really want is a "black box" type solution that is easy to use and requires little if any configuration by them. *nix apps are notorious for offering just the opposite of this. I am continually met with tremendous resistance by nearly everyone in my office when I attempt to replace a windows solution with a *nix solutions. This is especially true when the solution replaces something that the users use on a day to day basis. Maybe this is a good project: Put together a groupware solution that will run on SME that has the look and feel of a typical windows app. :) Regards, -- Greg J. Zartman, P.E.
