I seem to have run into a problem I cannot find any information on in the
forums or the mailing list archive:

I am installing SME 5.1 on a new machine (1.6 GHz P-IV) it only contains one
processor, but the machine shows up as multi-processor capable, so in LILO
there are two entries, esmith and esmith-up. When I select the default it
seems to start starting up, but I get some errors and eventually it hangs.
When I select the uniprocessor mode every thing works fine.

The errors I get seem to be mainly related to the IDE drives:

hda: IRQ probe failed (0)
hdb: IRQ probe failed (0)
etc.

(I does seem to find hda and hdc (CDROM), but also gives these errors)

Then it goes into "paritition check" and will keep generating the following
line every few seconds:

hda: lost interrupt

When, as I said before, I select esmith-up it all works.

Anyone knows what is going wrong here?
