Not quite. I notice that it is putting templates in 
/etc/e-smith/templates-custom. That directory is strictly for local 
modifications. All RPMs should install templates in 
/etc/e-smith/templates/.

You should template the config file. See http://www.e-smith.org/custom/ 
plus any of the installed e-smith-* RPMs as examples.
