Which I am not. But hang on, the languages are en_US and fr_CA, so I'd say the defaults are pretty reasonable. If we added en_AU as a language, I'd suspect the default would be Australian/NSW, or how about Australia/Yancowinna to add interest? :-) Yes, grovelling the network for lots of things might be a good idea, but it takes time to implement and test and getting it wrong is probably more annoying than a known default. Finally, grovelling the local network in the _installer_, when most of the SMB networking code is not available, is somewhat more than trivial.
