IMO the underlying nuisance is that this is but one rpm that is needed for
development. What gets tricky is that every SME build is based partly on a
RedHat release but also for some aspects does not match the same RedHat
release at all. Making it more difficult is the RedHat release a build is
based on will change and update on RedHat and mirrors but remain static in
respect to the Mitel release. This then throws rpm releases out of sync
between what you find on RedHat and mirrors and what is actually used in a
SME build.

Now anyone can take up the challenge and eventually find the correct rpms.
Many of us on devinfo do this all the time. It is possible. Sometimes very
easy in fact. Simply visit your local rpmfind.net or RedHat mirror.
Sometimes not.

What I would suggest and believe would be truly beneficial is for Mitel to
host all the rpms and srpms for the RedHat snapshot an SME build is based
on, on e-smith.org. So for instance, if SME 5.5 is based on RedHat 7.2, host
all the rpms/srpms from the RedHat 7.2 snapshot you have used on e-smith.org.

Of ultimate benefit would be a complete SME build iso set including the
standard SME release iso plus development iso(s). Put everything together
so that when the community needs to develop SME we have all the right rpms,
all in the most logical place, e-smith.org.

I would very much welcome this. I'm sure others would as well.

Regards,
