An electronic timer IS a good (and cheap) idea until you can come up with a reliable workaround. While working at an ISP I had to resort to this method back when we had analog modems to prevent problems. It seemed that out of a pool of 250 modems, a random modem would decide not to answer after just a few days operation. My solution - power cycle all modems at 3:30 AM. Net result: Eliminated problems with non-responding modems and got happier customers. Ultimate solution was to change to newer technology. It was worthwhile to think outside the box in that situation. -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org
