I control both sides of a SME dialup connection (hint: I help the ISP) and
I'm sure that all calls logged in the accounting log match the calls logged
at the isp, except when you cannot log-in (auth problem, expired account,
part-time account outside business hours, etc).
In that case, you spend the call setup fee, but nothing gets logged on sme
(but the provider logs the call).

As a side note, I also found that sometimes SME doesn't log a call
termination if you shutdown the server while connected.
After many hours of research, I quit, given that it's uncommon to shutdown
linux. :-)

I used a P120, it's enough for a basic dialup server to replacing a router.
