As a lurker on this list, I'm somewhat puzzled by the "us and them"
attitude so frequently displayed here. I often cringe when reading
some of the exchanges between Mitel (us) and other posters here
(them).

Maybe I'm missing something, maybe there's a Mitel agenda that's
invisible to me, but it seems to me that Darrell has a valid point
WRT obtuse-smtpd vs. mailfront.

No doubt Mitel had good reasons to change to mailfront, but the fact
remains that it is less capapble than obtuse-smtpd in some important
areas which Darrell has highlighted - I get the impression that Mitel
are unconcerned that this change means that moving forward to SME 5.5
is not an option for many users who rely on the superior controls
afforded by obtuse-smtpd / smtpcheckrules - is this the case? Given
that spam is a huge problem already & getting worse all the time,
common sense would seem to dictate that taking useful anti-spam
features away from later SME versions weakens the product overall.

I often wonder if Mitel actually care at all about fostering
contributions from external developers. On the face of it, you
appear to have fallen into the Microsoft trap of "we know what's good
for you, how dare you question our decisions?".

I also agree with Darrell that this list is in danger of becoming
moribund if the current situation continues unchanged.
