May I suggest we tackle one defined area at a time. If we do not I believe this discussion may never move forward to fruition.
The first defined area presented was the need for a central, searchable contrib database. LinkBase was provided as a potential solution. Let's stick on this one defined topic and see if there exists a better solution for this one area. So here is LinkBase: http://198.182.88.210/LinkBase It offers the following features: - a web-based, central, descriptive, searchable contrib locator - can be hosted by Mitel, the community or both - can be moderated by Mitel, the community or both - contribs may be hosted on e-smith.org or independantly - contribs may be of any format (files/docs/Howto,rpms) LinkBase does one job and one job only. Provide searchable links to content of any format, hosted on any location. In addition, since LinkBase is simply a mySQL db, it should be possible for this db to be dumped nightly and made available for anyone to host a local LinkBase mirror. Sticking to this one defined area, what other products should we also look at that perform this function with the same degree of simplicty?
