I have yesterday installed a 5.6 SME server using a Telstra ISDN NT1 plus
which is basically a normal ISDN NT1 unit with a built in terminal adapter
and AT compatible modem emulator for ISDN. I connected it to ttyS0 and
found that he standard L0M0 modem init command confuses the modem as it
doesn't have an internal speaker (presumably because it's ISDN).

For 64k operation I used just Z instead of L0M0 and for 128k the init string
of !T0=0 did the trick.

I tested this at home on a normal NT1 Plus before going on site, where the
customer had an NT1 Plus II.
The NT1 Plus II has a USB port on the back of the unit in addition to RS232.
I had to make sure that the USB was disconnected before the RS232 port would
activate.

I have no idea what would be involved in getting the USB port to be used
instead of the RS232, but it would be better I assume, as the normal serial
port is only 112500 baud which doesn't really give me the full 128k.

Has anyone else used USB modems with SME server?

dave.
