This is, personnaly, the way I think E-Smith should go as far as the next "big" step is concerned. Combined with Samba-3.0 (the 3.01rc1 was just announced a few days ago) would put together a very powerful little PDC for a MS client network that would have the ability to interface with the MS Active Directory. Porting to another distro may be inevitable, but we probably have at least a year to do so.
