Sounds like a good job for a level 2 FCP implementation, not especially
something to be put into the actual FCP protocol. My level 2
implementation (which is about to finish splitfile support) can
implement this pretty easily. Basically to write my level 2, I'm
basically extending the protocol, talking normal FCP to the node, while
accepting more advanced syntax (just like you described). I don't think
it's necessary to put this logic into the node any more than to have it
do anything else involving metadata.
