It's for real. It's just no one has been using the java impl. of the
FCP _client_. I mean, we have, what, 3 java clients? Yours, Mr. Bad's,
and the reference clients? And all 3 of those are still using FNP.

It's fairly solid. As solid as it's going to get. The FCP interface
in 0.4 Fred will be quite robust.
