Hi Oskar: I think that part of the degradation in node performance over time might be the result of too many threads stuck handling requests / restarts to handle node announcement messages.
As a test I temporarily hacked up my local node to disable handling of NodeAnnouncement messages. I does appear to reduce the degree to which the number of requests handled falls off with time. I have to get more data to be sure. Does this make sense to you? Also, are you working on implementing a random routing implementation. i.e so that we can do first hop random routing to implement "non-local" client inserting and requesting correctly? Instead of CofE's hacks. (much like my earlier hacks :-) ). If not I'll start working on it. I think excessive inserting is trashing routing. But we can't really discourage it until we have something better to offer people. --gj -- Freesite (0.4) freenet:SSK@npfV5XQijFkF6sXZvuO0o~kG4wEPAgM/homepage// _______________________________________________ devl mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hawk.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/devl
