On Matthew's request, I have announced Freenet 0.5pre1 - the first 0.5 candidate release.
Go... download... submit bugs. Top priority right now (in addition to searching for and fixing any bugs in 0.5pre1) is getting the Windows installer/tray-app up to speed with recent changes. I have had a couple of offers for help, but nobody definite yet - so if you think you can help out in this regard, we would all be grateful.
