But it isn't just pre1 we are losing backward compatability with, it is 
every single build before 513, many of which did work reasonably well.

I really want to discourage use of the mandatory upgrade functionality, 
it is a nasty thing to do to our users unless we have a tremendously
good reason (such a a serious security flaw).

I know a number of extremely worth-while potential users of Freenet who 
are still using 0.3 simply because we periodically kill backward 
compatability in 0.4.

If it is important that people upgrade, then by-all-means put a notice 
on the website, send an email to the mailing lists etc etc, but we need 
to only use the mandatory upgrade functionality in extremely rare 
circumstances.
