No check for 127.x.y.z; x,y,z >= 0? How about multicast ranges? Also it seems that some networks do not route addresses ending in .0 and .255 (even when the addresses belong in larger classes).

question is whether we should try to resolve DNS addresses to see if they are real.
IMO it would only create unnecessary traffic to nameservers.
