I have to say I agree with others, in that previous designs were better. I liked the
one that was up just previous
to this one. I like web pages that fill my available window, to minimize scrolling.

The XHTML looks good, except the <html> tag doesn't give the language declaration, as
the specs specify. I'd
recommend testing your page with the Amaya browser if you want it to be 100% XHTML 1.0
Strict. It isn't a very
good browser for browsing with (doesn't support cookies and many other features) but
it works great for validating
XHTML code. It's free at: http://www.w3.org/Amaya/

I have a couple of suggestions for accessibility of the pages. The alt tags in the
images should always mean
something useful to the user. "Freenet icon" isn't very useful, especially when there
are 7 of them. If an image
is simply a little graphic meant to make things pretty, but doesn't convey a specific
meaning in itself (i.e. it's
not a link or a button), just use alt="". This way, screen readers like JAWS that
blind people use won't read them
if they're not necessary. I would also try to make the alt text say the same thing as
the graphic if there are
words in the graphic. For example, you have a graphic that says "Freenet Project" but
the alt text says "freenet
banner". I would recommend having the alt text say "Freenet Project" as well, so the
blind user (or the user with
images turned off, which some people still do for bandwidth reasons) get the same
message as the sighted user who
is seeing the image.

I work in web accessibility for blind people, so I get picky about such things. :)

Keep up the good work.
