...is something I just found a reason for to strongly advise against. I did
the new UI, wanted to test it and chose a big file to insert
(FreeBSD-5.0-RELEASE-CD1.iso, if anyone cares :).

I started the insert and went to sleep. 4 hours later my browser was still
busy sending the file to fred. A look at the environment infolet told me
that maybe half of the file's size was in the temp directory so far... I
then cancelled the request and chose something smaller. It started rather
quickly as my node now had more space available.

Some hours later I restarted the first insert, watched the temp dir use up
all available dataa store space and then almost grinding to halt when
hitting that 400 M mark that my node showed as free data store space. Now
it's terribly slow again.

My assumption is that kicking old content out of the data store to make room
for new content (or temp content in this case) is slow as hell.

If this is the case:
- - can it be helped/fixed?
- - what about putting the temp dir in the data store dir but have a separate
config file option for its size?

If this is not the case:
- - what is happening? Can anyone enlighten me?
