I think apt over freenet is a great idea. I currently have a list of single points of failures (ie. url's with hostnames) in my sources.list. Using freenet could replace those with SSK's. You could set up a DBR site with a file people could download when they do their apt-get update and that file would contain the CHK's of all of the new packages etc. You might want to wait until revokeable SSK's are available before anyone deploys boxes with this system though for the same reasons freenet.jar isn't being distributed like this. I don't quite understand the problems you are running into though. If apt is a shitty http client you will have to implement a new http client or hack apt to be a better one. -- Tracy Reed http://www.ultraviolet.org
