Hey, I have noticed that a lot of freesites have images that point to
http://127.0.0.1:8888/servlet/images/aqua/hops.gif or
http://127.0.0.1:8888/servlet/images/aqua/hops.png .

Now freesites for the most part try to avoid using lots of images for small
things, as downloading 50 files that are a few hundred bytes in length is
very inefficient. This is also true to a lesser extent on the WWW. However we
could include a large set of small stock images included with freenet ala
hops.png then sites could reference these all they want and not have to
download anything. This would mean freesites could be made to look pretty
fancy without congesting the network.

I'll volunteer to collect a set of freely distributable images that could be
included in freenet, if it is agreed that they would be included in the next
stable version of Freenet. This would include some fairly clear icons as well
as assorted generic buttons and borders. Probably a bunch of simple gradients
as those could be scaled by the browser to do fancy things...

Now I'll admit that the problem may occur of everyone wanting 'their' image
included. However if you set a hard size limit IE: The total zip file must
remain less then 2MB, it won't be too much of an issue. Plus people could
create their own alternet icon sets and simply replace the zipfile in their
directory and theme ALL OF FREENET. I think that this would be a really good
feature to have. (Assuming it doesn't degenerate into a famewar over which
set of icons is 'best')
