I second this.

Maintaining two modes (newbie/advanced) is a mess.

And the support will be more complicated:

user:      My node doesn't BLABLA
supporter: Go to FOO and do BAR.
user:      I don't see any "FOO"!
supporter: D'OH! Switch to advanced mode please.

And this "conversation" will happen again and again... (Just like in
case of the freenet.conf/ini "%" thingy.)
