This is not as crazy as it sounds. By using signed xml messages either on the same enumeratable channel (like frost will do soon) or multiplexing several SSK channels like FMB does, it is possible to emulate http sessions with all necessary state attributes.
That means, it will be possible to create a j2ee Connector which would use freenet as transport layer. Once we have a working Connector, all products like Tomcat, JBoss, SunOne application server can be used to power freesites. Will it be slow? Yes. But after NIO and NG are deployed, it will not be impossibly slow. About two weeks ago frost users reported that they're already receiving responses to messages sent less than 30 minutes ago, and that was before any nio nodes had hit the network. With current nio nodes and their amazingly low routingTimes this lag will decrease even further. And after NG is deployed I think we can realistically expect the equivalent of simple session where the user purchases something with a shopping cart to take less than 10 minutes. _______________________________________________ devl mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hawk.freenetproject.org:8080/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/devl
