Actually, I think firewalls are highly overrated. Most people set up a
firewall and punch a bunch of holes through it to let the interesting (and
dangerous) stuff in so there isn't much point.

I just installed and played with xmule for the first time. A lot of the
files I try to get don't immediately start downloading for some reason,
probably not available.

The biggest advantage to freenet over something like xmule (besides being
anonymous) is that it has potentially much higher download speeds due to
every file being inherently distributed across many hosts. The download
speeds I am getting on xmule are pretty poor, just like all the other p2p
filesharing apps.
