Perhaps, but there is a particular English programmer already proficient
with Freenet development on whom those funds might be better spent, and 
who I suspect would be equally appreciative.  

I don't want to dilute the donations which we can spend in the manner
that most benefits the project (currently, this is by paying Matthew's
meager wages) with lump sums going to one person to the exclusion of the
many people who'se work would undoubtedly support theirs.

In short, "competition" discourages "collaboration" - and I prefer the
latter.
