I seem to remember that we already had this flam^H^H^H^Hdebate. Ian, as I recall, was dead-set against introducing any platform-specific code into Fred. Then we got into discussions of parsing vmstat's output, and the near-impossibility of gathering certain information on Mac OS X. Setting that aside for the moment, I'm wondering which numbers from /proc/stat you were actually going to use, and how you would interpret them. For example, I run dnetc as well as Fred, so my box "idles" at a load average of 1.00, 100% CPU usage, all day, every day. Any load that Fred imposes starts from that point. -- Greg Wooledge | "Truth belongs to everybody." [EMAIL PROTECTED] | - The Red Hot Chili Peppers http://wooledge.org/~greg/ |
