I seem to remember that we already had this flam^H^H^H^Hdebate.
Ian, as I recall, was dead-set against introducing any platform-specific
code into Fred.  Then we got into discussions of parsing vmstat's
output, and the near-impossibility of gathering certain information
on Mac OS X.

Setting that aside for the moment, I'm wondering which numbers from
/proc/stat you were actually going to use, and how you would interpret
them.  For example, I run dnetc as well as Fred, so my box "idles" at
a load average of 1.00, 100% CPU usage, all day, every day.  Any load
that Fred imposes starts from that point.
